Download the Friends and Family Handbook
In collaboration with Citizens United for the Rehabilitation of
Errants (CURE), the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC) has created a
handbook for friends and family of inmates in our custody. The handbook
will help you know what to expect for yourself and for your loved one,
and to have a basic idea of what the rules and procedures are so that
you can support your loved one through a difficult experience.
The handbook addresses many questions and concerns friends and
family might have when someone they know has been sentenced to serve
time in Oregon. Topics include:
- Intake and assessment process
- How to find details on an incarcerated loved one
- Visiting and contacting an inmate
- What day-to-day life is like as an inmate
- Types of facility housing
- Correctional programs and treatment
- And much more!
